ACCA Conference Goes Paperless - Or at Least Less Paper
Posted on October 21, 2009
We’re saving you from paper cuts. And perhaps from paying an extra overweight fee to get your luggage home.
Oh, and then there’s the whole saving-the-trees thing.
This year, the ACCA Conference is going paperless. If the thought of walking out of a workshop without a neatly stapled packet of handouts gives you hives, stick with us and read on. All of your handouts will be available, and they’ll all be in one place.
The newly-launched ACCA Conference website, www.accaconference.com, features a multimedia center where you’ll be able to find all of the workshop materials, as well as videos and pictures from the Tampa event, scheduled for March 7-9.
If you prefer to have your materials ahead of time, feel free to print out just the ones you need before heading to Tampa, or take advantage of our multiple printing stations located on-site at the conference. What we’re hoping is that attendees will get the materials they need—and only the ones they need—thus reducing, or (dare we hope for?) eliminating all the extra paper that, not claimed by attendees, gets thrown away.
Or perhaps your game plan will be to attend the conference and print only the materials you’re interested in after you return home. The multimedia center will allow you to save electronic versions of the materials to your desktop, if that’s how you prefer to work.
Look—we know change can be difficult, and it certainly isn’t our intention to give anyone a case of hives. But our industry is built on a foundation of promoting energy efficiency. It’s about time our conference reflects our commitment to saving resources, don’t you think?
As a side note, this trend of reducing paper or going paperless is gaining momentum in many arenas. This article on SuccessfulMeetings.com highlights an example or two. What are you doing in your company to reduce paper? Share your story below.
