Take the Leap
Posted on February 2, 2010
Something new is coming down the road—do you ignore it, figuring it’s a trend, or make a leap, assuming the differentiation and expertise will bring you lucrative rewards?
Attending the 42nd ACCA Annual Conference will give you guidance as you navigate this path, as expert Harvey Sachs presents his workshop, “Can You Profit from Emerging HVACR Technologies and Practices?”
“Innovation is opportunity,” he says, “and it’s important to look through the fog of the future at possible opportunities to serve customers better, differentiate services and profit.”
A representative of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Sachs will report on 15 emerging HVAC technologies the council recently analyzed as those having high potential to save energy. “We’ll review a range of these, from cold climate heat pumps to hot-humid climate air conditioners, stressing the benefits of good system designs with quality installation,” he says.
His session will walk contractors through which emerging technologies should capture their attention, including robust equipment, ventilation controlled by indoor air quality sensors and proxies (particularly CO2), and outdoor reset controls for residential boilers. He will present all of the other emerging technologies ACEEE studied as well, also pointing out huge, yet under-studied, potential for decreasing energy use with system approaches, such as combination space- and water-heating systems.
“2010 looks like an excellent time to leap ahead by mastering products and methods that can please customers and earn real profits,” he notes.
The Sachs presentation is one of dozens planned for March 7-9 in Tampa at ACCA’s 42nd Annual Conference and Indoor Air Expo. The powerful workshop line-up is designed to address contractors’ biggest challenges for 2010, calling on leading industry experts to share their experiences and solutions with attendees.
