Wrapping Up in Tampa
Posted on March 9, 2010
We knew the closing general session was going to be good before it even got rolling. Coming off the high of the last couple of days—the educational sessions, the networking, the expo hall, the fun social events—there was an energy in the room before the first words of welcome were uttered.
"I have heard many great things about the magic that happened this week," said Paul Stalknecht, president and CEO of ACCA. "We can always expect great things when we gather ACCA contractors together, and this 'Big Picture' event has exceeded expectations."
Attendees received a powerful presentation from nationally-known photographer Dewitt Jones. Though some contractors may have been wondering what kind of connection a National Geographic photographer could possibly have with an HVACR contractor, they were pleasantly surprised to learn it’s one that’s actually quite strong. Dewitt Jones, one of America’s top professional photographers, has a thing or two to say about being creative, finding more than one right answer to business challenges and shaking off the fear that can often paralyze a company’s growth.
The creativity he draws on for his photography, he offered, really isn’t that much of a stretch from the creativity contractors need to run successful businesses.
"The visions I'm really interested in exploring are not photographic," said Jones. "They're visions of our lives."
The annual event wraps up tonight with a MIX group social event and the 2011 kick-off reception.
