Government Game Plan
Posted on March 8, 2010
There’s a lot shakin’ on the political front this year, and ACCA is right in the middle of the game, making sure contractors are represented, according to Charlie McCrudden, ACCA’s vice president of government relations.
In his workshop, “New American Economy: Where Congress is Headed and Where They are Taking Us,” McCrudden outlined some of the challenges the HVACR industry may face, as well as some of the opportunities stemming from greater focus on energy efficiency. The HVACR industry is uniquely placed to play a critical role in the pending transformation of our economy and recovery, he reported.
“I think a lot of people have benefited from the tax credits and now we're looking at new ways to stimulate with things like Homestar and Buildingstar,” McCrudden said.
He also provided an update on where things stand with topics like global warming, the Employee Free Choice Act, tax credit extensions and, of course, pending health care legislation. "My message today is simple," he said. "We've been focused on Congress and what they're doing but I think our focus is shifting to the Obama Administration. The White House turned everything over to Congress and they failed at it. So now they're stepping in and taking over."
Other workshops on a variety of HVACR business topics are continually presented this week in Tampa as part of ACCA’s 42nd Annual Conference and Indoor Air Expo. Read all of our blogs and news updates from the event at www.accaconference.com, or from your mobile phone at www.acca10.com.
