I’ve Got an Idea!

Sponsored by Jackson Systems
One of the best things about the ACCA Conference is the caliber of contractors who attend it. That means that your learning experience isn’t limited to workshop rooms and set class hours. Instead, you have three days of opportunities to mingle with your fellow contractors, pick their brains, and pick up dozens of ideas that can improve your company’s performance.
This sort of learning exchange is so valuable that we devote a whole session to it — and for years, contractors have told us that this single session pays for conference attendance many times over. It’s “I’ve Got an Idea!” and while the moderator may be named Vince DiFilippo the star is YOU!
At “I’ve Got an Idea!” you’ll participate in a fun, fast-paced brainstorming session with the best contractors in the country. They’ll share ideas that worked in your business (and some that didn’t — which is even more valuable to know!). And if you stand up and share one of your company’s best ideas, you’ll even get some cold hard cash right on the spot!
What sort of ideas have been offered during “I’ve Got an Idea!” sessions in the past? Here are just a few offered by contractors just like you:
- Send an email to your customer with a photo of the tech who is coming to their homes so they know who to expect.
- Apply for industry awards, local business awards, community group awards, any awards at all … if you don’t apply, you can’t win. And when you do win, you can refer to yourself as “an award-winning contractor.”
- Put a postage paid survey at the bottom of invoices – helps to capture emails. Tie it to a raffle or giveaway.
- Shave install time by making preset kits with parts that are standard to most installs.
- Write down your wins and losses in a journal so you know what works and what needs to be improved.
- Use a program that automatically leaves a message to call non-maintenance agreement customers to remind them they are in need of a check up.
- Use a sticky note to show your customers how much they save by having a maintenance agreement. The written “sticky note” is key — stands out more!
- Use a portion of your marketing budget to allow your technicians to take $10-20 off the cost when they have to be a little late.
