There is a growing demand for high efficiency air conditioners. In California, where cooling and ventilation add up to more than 50% of the summertime peak electric demand there are policies to support the use of climate appropriate rooftop units that are designed especially for cooling in hot dry conditions. These technologies include indirect evaporative coolers and hybrid DX systems that can use 40-80% less energy than standard equipment. Learn about what is motivating the drive for high efficiency, and about applying and selling the next generation of rooftop air conditioners. Talk with manufacturers and installers about how these systems work, and get the honest inside information about their benefits and limitations.
